Netsafe resources

NetSafe provides cybersafety education for all New Zealanders. The Ministry and NetSafe have worked together to produce the following resources to provide support and guidance to ECE services.

NetSafe brochures

Two brochures providing cybersafety information were mailed to ECE services in December 2007:

  • do the Net Basics is a plain English guide to basic electronic security
  • first Steps to Cybersafety provides safety and security information specifically relevant to people working with or caring for young children.

NetSafe kit for ECE
Cover Netsafe Kit book.

Based on internationally recognised principles, the kit helps ECE services put in place:

  • a cybersafety policy
  • electronic protection (anti-virus, anti-spyware)
  • robust passwords
  • back-up systems.

NetSafe workshops

In May/June 2008 NetSafe delivered regional cybersafety workshops, at association/organisational level. The workshops gave an overview of cybersafety issues and addressed areas where ECE services can implement cybersafety practices.
