Innovation
Te Whakarehu
Mana Tamariki focuses on the notion of he tamaiti hei raukura – the child as a high achiever who exemplifies the hopes and dreams of her/his people. This is the ultimate goal of Te Aho Matua, the guiding document of Kura Kaupapa Māori, a philosophy upheld all the way through Mana Tamariki including our kōhanga reo where Te Aho Matua sits alongside Te Whāriki and Te Korowai.
Mana Tamariki has also been inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach where their image of the child is of the ‘rich child’ constructing knowledge, identity and value. (Dahlberg & Moss (2006), in In Dialogue with Reggio Emilia)
